About Chiri Student

Chiri - pronounced chee-ree - is Japanese for a word meaning something close to geography. I began studying geography when I was 19 or so, when I took a general geography course at my community college. I stopped immediately after. The class was dreadful. The only bit I remember is that if you order a beer in Germany, you should hold up your thumb not your pointer finger, because your pointer finger means two. This course killed any interest that I had in the class - after all, hasn't everything been mapped?

No, it hasn't. A few years later I found out that geography was more than lines on a map, and eventually decided to pursue a master's degree with an emphasis in geographic information systems science. Basically I make fancy maps. ;)

I've been reading L.M.M. since I was a little girl. The older I get, the more I 'see' in them things that I had before not understood or taken for granted. This blog is here to let me rant and rave about these observations.
